Mike Schabbing, Effingham Service Manager
Mr. Schabbing joined Global Technical Systems, Inc. in 2002. Mike oversees day to day operations in the Effingham service facility. Mike is extremely community oriented. Mike was an ad-hoc committee member for forming Enhanced 9-1-1 systems in multiple counties in downstate Illinois. Mr. Schabbing volunteers his time (or has) for the American Red Cross, Effingham County Ambulance Oversite Committee, Effingham County Chamber of Commerce and the Effingham Eagles Club.
Mike is member of the St. Anthony Parish, Grand Ambassador for the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce, Shumway Fire Protection District and the Effingham Knights of Columbus.
Mike and his wife Pat live in Effingham and enjoy spending as much time as possible with their 4 children and 13 grandchildren. Mike is an avid Cardinals fan and really enjoys taking his grandkids to Cardinal games.

Chris Cody, Service Manager & Procurement Manager
Chris Cody joined GTSI in 2018 as an Account Executive and currently serves the role of Jacksonville Service Manager and Procurement Manager.
He served 12 years in the United States Air Force, where he is Veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Senior Airman Cody was pursuing a 20-year career, however, was honorably discharged in 2012 due to an injury.
Chris has served as Lieutenant for Divernon Fire Protection District. He completed basic firefighter operations and numerous other trainings in the firefighting industry.
Chris currently serves as Junior Vice-Commander of the Chatham-Auburn Memorial VFW Post 4763.
He is married, wife Meaghan, and two children Kyleigh and Wyatt. They reside in Chatham, Illinois. In his spare time he enjoys St. Louis Cardinal baseball, St. Louis Blues hockey and Jeep runs. He enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Kelly Brewer, Service Manager
Kelly Brewer joined Global Technical System Inc. in July of 2019. He came to GTSI from the Hillsboro Police Department where he retired after 21yrs of service. Kelly is the Service Manager for the Greenville facility that encompasses the Metro East Area. Kelly has spent over half his life in and around the emergency services community and he uniquely understands the needs of those that we service with emergency and communications products. Kelly spent 3 years working for Whiteside Communications prior to GTSI acquiring that business in 2018.
Kelly grew up in the Hillsboro area and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1992. He started his first career in the Dept. of Corrections at Stateville Correctional Facility and then went into a law enforcement career that lasted 25 years. While at Hillsboro PD, Kelly acquired his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Most of Kelly’s career with the Hillsboro PD was spent as a Sergeant and also a canine handler.
Kelly went through a vast amount of training in his career and holds a immense amount of certificates. Kelly has been a member of the Masonic Temple in Hillsboro since 2016. Kelly enjoys motorcycle riding and spent many years with the Blue Knight’s Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club. He is still an avid rider and enjoys many charity rides throughout the year.

Darin Deters, Effingham Service Manager
Darin Deters joined the Global Technical Systems, Inc. team in April of 2024. Darin oversees the day to day operations of the Effingham service facility. Prior to joining the GTSi team, Darin was employed with the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office where he held the positions of Correctional Officer, Deputy Sheriff and Detective. Darin was promoted multiple times in his career and led the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Unit for eleven (11) years. Darin retired at the rank of Lieutenant in March of 2024 with more than twenty-two years of service to the citizens of Effingham County.
Darin was also a volunteer firefighter for the Montrose Fire Protection District for approximately seven (7) years. Darin served as Training Officer and Assistant Chief in his tenure with Montrose FPD. Darin left the fire service to pursue a full-time career in law enforcement.
Darin is an active member of the Effingham Elks Lodge, Effingham Knights of Columbus, Sons of the American Legion and is a former Board Member of the Effingham County Emergency Telephone Systems Board.
Darin is a graduate of Teutopolis High School and has attended Lake Land College, the University of Illinois Police Training Institute and the St. Clair County Correctional Officer Academy.
Darin resides in Effingham, enjoys playing golf and is a fifth generation farmer in rural Cumberland County, an endeavor he enjoys alongside his father and his brother.
